PNW Scout

Fifty states. A collection taking shape.

The map covers all 50 US states. The guide collection is earlier in its life: 13 opening drafts, including five backed by trip archives, and no completed statewide fieldbooks yet.

Five archive-backed beginnings

Washington, Florida, Michigan, California and Wisconsin have opening notes grounded in trip archives. They explain what the trips revealed and what each guide needs to develop next.

Eight early opening notes

Oregon, Texas, Georgia, Hawaii, Arkansas, Montana, New York and Rhode Island have early notes awaiting fuller memories and research. A visited state is not the same as a finished guide.

Choose the scale of your trip

For one Northwest weekend, start with PNW trip reports. For a route crossing state lines, use the road-trip planning guide. If you’re deciding between formats, compare firsthand reports and general travel guides.

How to explore

Open the state map, choose a state, and read its guide status and opening note. You can browse without an account. Sign in to save your own visited and want-to-go marks. A release-notification form is available inside each state view.

What a finished guide looks like

For now, the finished example is regional: Jarrell Cove & Harstine Island, a 10-page PNW fieldbook based on an August 2026 trip. It has a free itinerary preview and an optional $5 PDF.
