The Scout promise

Scout does the scouting beforehand so you can be present once you arrive. Each report turns firsthand experience, current research, and original photography into a trip that works—not another list of things to book.

Jarrell Cove

The designed journey

Three days.
One emotional arc.

Scout treats timing, transitions, and energy as part of the product—not administrative details around it.

01 · Friday

Arrive

Keep the evening

Provision before the final leg, reach camp with daylight, establish the Site 17 base, then use the T-dock as the weekend’s first orientation point.

02 · Saturday

Explore

Let the cove set the pace

Coffee, marina, paddle time, heron watch, a picnic reset, then the tide-sensitive McMicken route—with permission to choose the long dock instead.

03 · Sunday

Return

Leave one good thing

Pancakes, a final shoreline look, layered teardown, and an earlier departure that keeps the weekend from ending in exhaustion.

What Scout noticed

Small details.
The whole point.

Not a database of everything nearby. A confident edit of what deserves your attention.

21

The site we’d try next

Site 17 was the tested base. Site 21 is Mathias’s firsthand primo pick—useful judgment, clearly separated from official park facts.

H

Look for the heron

Common enough to miss. Extraordinary when you are looking. The fieldbook turns a confirmed sighting into a small attention ritual, not a wildlife guarantee.

T

The dock is the front porch

The T-dock and long dock are not just amenities. They are orientation point, paddle launch, regrouping place, and an easy fallback when energy changes.

↔

Time the little adventure

McMicken is not another attraction to stack into the day. It is a tide-sensitive branch with a check, a turnaround rule, and a cove-based alternative.

One trip, two ways

Camp or cabin.
Meet at the cove.

The family fieldbook holds Site 17 as the tested camp base while the G&J cabin becomes the DINK variation. Mornings begin differently; the shared daytime plan reconverges at the water.

The Scout method

Before

Prepare

Resolve reservations, provisions, weather, tides, access, pet rules, and offline proof before those questions steal time from the trip.

During

Orchestrate

Sequence the day around geography, energy, appetite, attention, and flexible branches rather than stacking the maximum number of activities.

After

Remember

Leave room for field notes, what you actually saw, and the variation you would choose next time. Every guide learns from a real trip.
