A feel for Olympic

Olympic is a chain of landscapes connected by long drives: rainforest, beaches, northern towns and distant headlands. The time between them is part of the trip.

Hall of Mosses is the iconic rainforest beginning. A beach day offers a different scale and pace. Sequim and the northern shore can provide a contrast to the wetter western peninsula; choose a route that gives each landscape room.

One of my strongest memories is a north-side waterfront stay: a stove inside and the sound of waves while falling asleep. The weather was part of what made it memorable. Plan for mist and rain, rather than building the whole trip around blue skies.
