Why this month

June is a proposed valley-trail window; higher routes and highway access depend on the year.

A rough itinerary

  1. Day 1

Drive to Mazama using an open route and settle into a simple cabin or lodge.

  2. Day 2

Walk a suitable section of the Methow Community Trail and visit the Mazama Store.

  3. Day 3

Choose a low-elevation hike or bike outing based on trail conditions, then leave the afternoon open.

  4. Day 4

Breakfast, a short walk and the return drive.

What I’m budgeting

Planning allowance for one adult starting and ending in Seattle, using an existing car. Hotel allowances cover the room without assuming a roommate. No flights, vehicle rental or paid trip-planning service are included. Mountain trips assume the experience and equipment described below.

Estimated trip costs in US dollars
Three lodging nights$660
Transport$190
Food$280
Bike rental and activities$120
Contingency$250
Total, including contingency$1,500
Room below the $2,400 cap$900

These are planning estimates, not supplier quotes or a trip for sale. Lodging and ticket allowances include room for taxes and fees. Confirm 2027 prices before booking; change dates or scope if the total would exceed $2,400.

Before this becomes a booking

Check trail and highway conditions before selecting hikes; no alpine route is assumed open.
